- Macroadenomas These are large adenomas. They are about 1 centimeter or more. A little less than a half inch.
- Microadenomas These adenomas are smaller in size. They are about less than 1 centimeter.
Symptoms caused with tumor pressure
Macroadenomas put pressure on the pituitary gland on nerves on the brain and other parts of the body. Some of the symptoms caused due to pressure include:
- Headache
- Drooping eyelid
- Seizure
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Pain in the face include sinus or ear pain
- Eye problems due to pressure felt on the optic nerve sometimes blur eye vision or loss of vision
Symptoms caused due to hormonal change
Macroadenomas lose the ability of the pituitary gland to develop hormones. Symptoms that include:
- Tiredness or weakness
- Chance in menstrual cycle
- Sexual problems such as erection problems or less interest in sex
- Nausea
- Feeling cold
- Losing or gaining weight
